Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada
Strangely, I lived in Vegas for a number of years, but I rarely ever headed out to Henderson to Lake Mead or Lake Las Vegas after it was “built”. This is where many celebrities, including Celine Dion, owned homes — and some were mega mansions of course. This photo was taken a few years ago on a day trip with my parents when they were in town visiting. We had taken the boat cruise around to see the It was such a beautiful clear day, something we were typically blessed with after a day of high winds.
For a long time, I thought I would live here someday. My parents and I went on a pre-construction tour and were interested in buying a house when I was probably 18 or 19. The prices didn’t seem too outrageous — about $300,000. As it turned out, that was for the land only of course and there was going to be a minimum spend on construction. Needless to say, my parents never ended up building a house there.
