Boxtel, the Netherlands — where I call home part of the year

Ironically for the A to Z blogging challenge, both places I live are the first two letters in the alphabet. Yesterday I shared a photo of Ambergris Caye, the island I call home in Belize. Today, I thought it was only fitting to share Boxtel, the village where I call home the remainder of the year (provided I am not traveling).

Located near the city of Eindhoven, the small village of Boxtel is technically my primary residence. It’s quaint and definitely a contrast from the large cities I lived in all my life. Even my tiny town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye has more going on than Boxtel most days!

It’s been quite an adjustment to life in the Netherlands, especially given I am rarely there. From stores closing at 6pm nightly to everything, and I mean everything, closed on Sundays, you have to plan ahead. There are rotating “Shopping Sundays” between cities and towns around the country and thankfully I have a grocery store nearby that opens for several hours on Sundays.

Hard to believe I haven’t been home since October, but I am headed back in two weeks…at least for a few days in between trips!
