In honor of World Whisky Day today, I’m sharing a photo from the Taipei Whisky Live show we attended back in 2010. It’s not often you see a bagpipe player who is Taiwanese! Judging by his face most of the afternoon, I am not 100% sure he was completely thrilled to be donning the authentic outfit, right down to the kilt. It was quite an experience as I did not realize how passionate locals are about whisky. Everyone talks about Taiwanese not drinking that much — perhaps not wine, but they definitely are big consumers of whisky. In speaking with several of the distilleries, much of their business is export to Asia — especially Taiwan.
