Photo of the Day: Ambergris Caye, Belize
I signed up for the 2014 A to Z blog challenge starting today and what better way to kick off the month but with a picture of my favorite spot in the world — Ambergris Caye.
This island is where I am fortunate enough to call home for most of the year. I keep an apartment year round on Ambergris Caye with the original intention of only spending about four to six months max a year. Last year, I managed to be here about eight months and still travel to 32 other countries!
I think I’ll be slowing down a bit this year as I try to catch my breath and catch up on work; however, I still have some new projects I’m hoping to launch later this year. Ironically, I am taking off later this month for a pretty big 22 night Mediterranean cruise, but I will be coming back to Belize for the summer to relax some.
Belize has always been the place I feel most at home and sometimes I am still in disbelief that this is really my home. This photo was taken a few weeks ago from a friend’s boat as we headed north on the island to celebrate another friend’s birthday. I am truly blessed and I will never tire of these views.
Ambergris Caye was recently named the #1 island in the world by TripAdvisor readers for the second year in a row. While I am excited that the island is gaining notoriety, I also hope it always remains this tranquil and laid back — I hate the thought of my paradise being ruined by too much tourism.
