Disney: A Look at Disneyland Theme Parks Around the World
Without a doubt, one of my biggest loves is anything and everything to do with Disney Theme Parks. From decorating my homes with Disney collectibles to all my tattoos being Disney themed, I think it’s fair to say I might be a wee bit passionate about Disney…ok, more like obsessed!
Until recently, I also maintained annual passes to all the Disney Theme Parks worldwide. I’d visit each of the parks at least once a year, usually 2-3 times each. Sadly, moving out of Asia has reduced my ability to hit Tokyo and Hong Kong Disney as often, but I still manage at least one, maybe two visits per year. Despite being in Belize most of 2014 already, I’ve already been to Tokyo Disneyland twice and Hong Kong Disneyland once since the end of December.
Definitely an addict.
I’m participating in the A to Z blog challenge for 2014 and I can’t think of a better post for the letter “D” than Disney around the world. Here’s a look at some of my favorite elements from each of the Disney Theme Parks worldwide.
Disneyland California
What is there not to love about the original Disneyland? I grew up 20 minutes away and this was where I spent a lot of time in my youth and certainly as an adult until I moved abroad. When I was living nearby, I will admit I might’ve gone a couple times a week — maybe just for dinner, or to shop, or just hop on a ride or two.
Walt Disney World
Most Disney fans are either huge Walt Disney World fans or Disneyland fans. I didn’t even go to Walt Disney World until I was in my 20’s so I’ve always been more partial to Disneyland. I will say Walt Disney World has a lot to offer — I love the events, the variety of theme parks and attractions, and of course the food — especially the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot.
Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySEA
Tokyo Disney is really my favorite park in the world these days. From the best merchandise, seasonal events, and lots of really cool themed foods, it’s hard not to completely fall in love with Tokyo Disney. And for those who love the “kawaii” aspects of Japanese culture, Duffy the Disney Bear is a huge part of Tokyo DisneySEA. I completely fell under the spell of this adorable teddy bear and I admittedly go back to Tokyo Disney a lot for various seasonal events that include new Duffy merchandise.
Hong Kong Disneyland
Although the smallest of the Disney Theme Parks, Hong Kong Disneyland rocks. They have great seasonal events, especially at Halloween with scary walk through mazes and live performers. Another awesome time to visit is during Chinese New Year! Hong Kong Disneyland also boasts two new lands that can only be found in Hong Kong, Grizzly Gulch and Mystic Point.
Disneyland Paris
Disneyland Paris is the only European Disney Park and it still retains some unique charms the Asian parks do not have. Look for cool rides like Phantom Manor and do not miss their Space Mountain: Mission 2, which actually goes upside down! Disneyland Paris is the only Magic Kingdom style park where you can order alcoholic beverages inside the park itself — Walt’s on Main Street is one of my favorite splurges.
